Six time Ironman world champion Dave Scott
struck by car while cycling in Boulder, Colorado
BOULDER, Colo. — Boulder’s Dave Scott, a six-time Ironman world champion and triathlon coach, was injured Sunday afternoon when he was hit by a car while riding his bike on Wonderland Hill Avenue near Linden Avenue.
Jimmy Archer, who knows Scott and was hiking nearby at the time of the accident, said Scott was conscious and coherent after the accident, but appeared to be in a lot of pain. He said Scott was wearing a helmet.
“The car had a pretty big dent,” Archer said.
Friends said Scott spent Sunday night at Boulder Community Hospital and underwent surgery on his shoulder blade Monday at the Steadman Hawkins Clinics in Vail.
Boulder police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley could not locate an official report of the accident, saying it likely hasn’t been completed yet. She had no information on whether anyone was ticketed.
