Powerman Zofingen

21th Powerman Duathlon Zofingen 2009 - 6th September 2009!

The field of participants at Powerman Zofingen 2009 with over 40 elite athletes from 25 countries is much stronger as in past years. Leaders of the field are the two cracks Joeri Vansteelant (Belgium) and last year's winner Andy Sutz (Schaffhausen). However, as mostly all top favorites in Zofingen in the first attempt have never won, it will be difficult for Joeri Vansteelant to rise to the top of the podium. Candidates for medals are certainly Richard Ussher (New Zealand, 3rd in Roth 2009), Dominque Duchene (France, bronce medal 2008), Anthony Le Duey (France, who won Powerman Belgium 2009 and beaten Joerie Vansteelant), Jason Spong (South Africa, winner of the Powerman Malaysia 2008, for the first time in Zofingen on the long-distance), Aksel Nielsen (Denmark, 2nd place Zofingen 2007), Loïc Hélin (Belgium, Rank 3 Powerman Zofingen 2007), Nico Huyberechts (Belgium, 3rd place Powerman Zofingen in 2004 and 5th in 2006), Norbert Huber (Germany, Rank 7 Powerman Zofingen in 2008 and rank 8 in 2005), Josh Beck (USA, Rank 3 Powerman Zofingen 2005) or Karl Prungraber (Austria, multiple national champion).

The Swiss group is impressive. Above all, the locals Stefan Lüscher (4th place Zofingen Powerman 2008), Marc Widmer (Wädenswil, 5th Zofingen 2008), Urs Dellsperger (46 years old, former winner of Powerman Zofingen in 1995 and 1997, 2nd in 1996 und 4th in 2007). For further regional perspective the brothers, Lukas (Zofingen) and Jonas Baumann (Muhen) go for another top-ten result.
