2009 Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island results: Lovato and Jones win big
It was a sprint down the chute for the professional men at the Ironman 70.3 Rhode Island with Michael Lovato of Boulder, Colorado taking the win with a time of 3:54:38. Just 9 seconds behind him was Richie Cunningham who took the second podium position.
On the women's side of the race it was Michellie Jones who won in decisive fashion as she proves that she can still beat the best after her return to Ironman racing.
At the age of 40 Jones, like Lance Armstrong on the bike and Darra Torres in the pool, is living proof that even older professional athletes can still perform at the top of their game.
